About Damilola
Damilola Aderonke Oyekunle is a painter working mainly in abstraction. Her paintings move between geometric patterns, recognisable objects and landscapes, using colour and shape to bring attention to things she finds meaningful.
A waterfall, a bicycle awaiting repair, a flower growing from a broken pot: each offers a different starting point. Some works draw on childhood memories and faith; others look at independence, ambition and the humour of everyday Nigerian life. Across these subjects, she returns to movement, connection and the possibility of beginning again.
